TEREN / Privacy
Privacy policy
This policy explains data processing in the TEREN app and on this website. The operator is ФОП Воронцов Максим Валентинович, Ukraine. For data questions, contact support@terenmaps.com.
Revision date: 09.10.2026
Your places and trips
Places, findings, notes, photographs and trip records are stored in the app’s local database and files. Location data may include coordinates, accuracy, time, and altitude, heading and speed when provided by your device.
Local storage does not mean that all data always stays on the device: maps, purchase services, exports and backups have separate data flows.
Permissions and background recording
You control location, camera and photo access in iOS settings. Declining permission may limit the related features.
Background route recording is associated with a trip you explicitly start. Pausing or finishing stops recording that trip; other features while the app is open may continue using location under the permission you granted.
Photos, exports and copies
Original photos may contain metadata, including where a photo was taken and camera information. TEREN may retain the original with that information.
You initiate GPX/KML exports and .teren backups through the operating system’s share interface. A .teren backup is a ZIP archive without encryption or a password added by the app; it may include original photos and records in the trash. Choose the recipient and storage location carefully.
iOS, iCloud or a storage service you choose may create or process copies according to their settings. Deleting data in TEREN does not delete copies already exported, shared or backed up: manage those separately.
Maps and Mapbox
Mapbox provides maps and offline area downloads. Requests to this service may send technical device and network information and information about the requested area.
The Mapbox SDK also includes usage and location telemetry, which Mapbox describes as de-identified. This is not a promise of complete anonymity. Mapbox describes opting out of telemetry through the map’s attribution information control; availability of that control depends on the version and platform.
See the Mapbox documentation and Mapbox privacy policy.
Purchases and access
In builds with subscriptions configured, RevenueCat may initialise when the app starts, before a purchase. The service processes a pseudonymous customer identifier, purchase, product and access entitlement records, renewal and expiry information, and service data.
TEREN’s purchase adapter does not send your notes, photos or location to RevenueCat. A pseudonymous identifier does not guarantee that information cannot be linked to a person; if you voluntarily provide a Support ID to support, it may be linked to your email address.
Apple processes payments and App Store data under its own rules. See the RevenueCat privacy policy and Apple privacy policy.
Website and correspondence
This website adds no analytics, advertising pixels, forms, cookies of its own or tracking scripts. To deliver pages, Cloudflare processes technical requests, including IP addresses, browser information and access logs.
When you email support, Zoho processes the address, message content and attachments. We use information you voluntarily provide to handle your request. Do not send passwords, payment details or precise locations of your findings.
Provider practices: Cloudflare and Zoho.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete or change it. For places and findings in the trash, 30 days means eligibility for permanent manual purging, not automatic deletion. Deleting a trip removes its route and associations; associated findings remain separate records.
Correspondence is retained to handle the request and necessary legal or dispute matters. Retention periods and procedures for Mapbox, RevenueCat, Apple, Cloudflare and Zoho service data follow their practices and the relevant settings.
Your choices and rights
You can change permissions and manage local records and your own copies. For access, correction, deletion or other applicable rights concerning data processed by the operator, contact support@terenmaps.com. We may need a minimal check that the request concerns your own data.
Where a separate provider controls processing, we can explain the relevant contact route; we cannot promise deletion of other people’s copies or all mandatory records. Material policy changes will appear on this page.
